B: Hello, Erin.
A: How have you been? You’ve were gone for a while.
B: It took a few months to get settled in at my new apartment. It’s a good thing Alvin Community College is just a ten minute walk away.
A: What program will you be taking?
B: Pediatric Cardiac Sonography. I’ll be taking an associate degree program.
A: What’s an associate degree program?
B: It’s a two year course on sonography for pediatric patients, specifically on their heart or cardiovascular system.
A: Wow! That’s pretty impressive. What made your choose Alvin Community College?
B: It’s one of two schools that offer accredited pediatric cardiac sonography. The first one is in California but it’s too far away. There are other Accredited ultrasound technician programs in Texas but Alvin is the only that offers pediatric sonography training. I have family in Texas plus the cost of living is lower than California.
A: It’s pretty amazing that you got into the school you wanted though. Do you have any advice for a person who wants to study sonography as well?
B: Are you interested in studying it?
A: Yes I am.
B: Well, do your research first. Sonography has different specialties that they offer to students so it’s better to know what you want to apply for first. You can try reading a few articles on ultrasoundtechniciancenter.org.
