A: What brings you here on a weekend?
B: I wanted to ask a few questions regarding our last class lesson on sonography.
A: What did you want to know?
B: I have a cousin who’s moving to New Jersey next month for a job as a sonographer and I was wondering how good employment opportunities are over there.
A: In terms of both salary and employment, New Jersey is a pretty great place for sonographers who are still starting out. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the New York-Jersey City-White Plains metropolitan area has the highest employment levels in the US for sonographers. By 2015, there were 2,750 sonographers working in the area.
B: That’s a lot!
A: Because of great employment opportunities, there are also a lot of schools offering diagnostic medical sonography education to students.
