When performing sterile procedures the ultrasound transducer need to be positioned in a sterilized sheath to maintain full barrier method. A single operator technique permits quicker start times and less chance of contamination of the sterile field and barriers.
The non-sterile gel is placed on the transducer prior to glove and gown.
