The Department of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at Montefiore Medical Center has a tested history of developing and perfecting treatments for all conditions of the vascular system, consisting of stomach and thoracic aortic aneurysms, carotid artery disease, lower extremity peripheral arterial disease (PAD), varicose veins, and kidney artery stenosis. The non-invasive diagnostic vascular laboratory provides a complete series of choices for all vascular disorders. Here, Montefiore’s vascular cosmetic surgeons and technologists employ the current treatment and imaging technology to offer the high-precision care that patients require.
The Ultrasound Service technician carries out all Vascular Ultrasound diagnostic lab tests including color Doppler ultrasound examination of the carotid, peripheral (upper and lower extremity) and visceral venous and arterial systems as well as plethysmographic testing of the arterial flow. This position is responsible for preliminary reporting and transmittal of research study results to referring doctors.
Duties:
- Perform accurate and quality diagnostic studies
- Teach and help in training of trainees and brand-new technologist
- Interaction with referring physician, brand-new Technologist and trainees
- Review diagnostic findings with Tech/ Med Director
- Perform suitable variety of studies per day
- Stock supplies and linen
- Follow Vascular Lab workflow
- Render outstanding client care
- As required, recommend/ carry out additional pertinent studies based upon findings of preliminary examination or patient presentations
- Provide initial preliminary analysis
- Determine which research studies need to be performed at the bedside based on client medical condition
- Independently performs vascular studies
- Will utilize Plethysmographic gadgets: Parks circulation, Unetixs Multilab series II (with HP DeskJet color printer). Phillips IU 22, Phillips iE 33, Epiq, GE Reasoning 9E and Zonare Color Doppler ultrasound devices (that include peripheral digital recorder thermal paper B/W and printer), hand held continuous wave pencil Dopplers
Credentials:
- High school Diploma needed
- Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT, RVS) sonographer with 2 years of medical ultrasound experience involving venous, carotid, arterial and stomach screening
- Should be BLS licensed
- Knowledge of efficiency pulse volume recordings, segmental pressures and Doppler waveform analysis or conclusion of CAAHEP vascular sonography program
- Comprehensive knowledge of ultrasound physics and instrumentation principles, vascular technological test modifications, anatomy and physical exam
- Efficiency in operation of PC and usage of Vascular database LX and Atrium
- Understanding in all diagnostic duplex ultrasound procedures carried out within the department and ultrasound guided procedure
