A: Hey Jules, did you understand that there are numerous certified sonography programs in the country?
B: No I didn’t. Where did you discover that?
A: I read an excellent post on ultrasoundtechniciancenter.org– obviously, while thousands of programs provided by hundreds of schools in the US, there are just 200 schools that provide either ARRT or CAAHEP certified sonography training.
B: That’s a surprise. Why are schools that use ultrasound specialist program extremely few?
A: It’s due to the fact that the accreditation process is really rigorous, implying a great deal of schools and programs don’t make it when they are examined by the ARRT and CAAHEP.
B: That indicates certified programs are the crème of the crop then.
A: Correct! It pays to study at a certified program. It’s a lot easier to pass the ARDMS accreditation exam also.
B: What’s that?
A: ARDMS certification is not needed by law but it is extremely encouraged for sonographers to have. It’s must easier to get a job with ARDMS certification.
