B: Not yet, but I am looking at several programs in Massachusetts. There are a few accredited programs available in the state for diagnostic medical sonography.

A: Wow! Sonographers do earn a lot! I was thinking of radiologic technology but it’s a very risky job because of the exposure to radiation. What about sonography? Is it a safe career?
B: Like most healthcare occupations, the biggest demand is the physical aspect of the job. Diagnostics requires a lot of time spent on your feet and can cause back problems. On the other hand, sonography itself is a very safe procedure. It only uses soundwaves to create images, and is safe enough to be used very delicate tissues.
