Work-related Injuries for An Ultrasound Tech

Medical professions have their fair share of work-related injuries. Check out an ultrasound tech’s at http://www.ultrasoundtechniciancenter.org/

A: Julie!
B: Hey Mel!
A: How did your talk at the sonography school go? I heard the teachers actually enjoyed your lecture.
B: It went pretty well. The students were really responsive to what I was teaching them.
A: What was your main subject?
B: Common injuries in a medical career, particularly for sonographers.
What injuries do sonographers typically get? I mean, isn’t their line of work pretty safe due to the fact that it focuses more on diagnostics?
B: That’s true. While sonographers do get their reasonable share of exposure to illness because of patient interaction, it isn’t as high as, say, a nurse’s or a medical professional’s. Injuries that sonographers typically get relate to posture and repeated motions– particularly back pain.
A: Oh wow. I never ever thought of that. An ultrasound tech does invest most of the work day taking a seat or leaning over patients.
B: That’s correct. The sonogram machine does not lend much to help the ergonomics of a sonographer’s work environment– hence the musculoskeletal problems. These sort of injuries take a long time to truly appear in sonographers; only individuals who have been sonographers for 5 years or more report moderate to serious pain in the back.
A: It’s great you had the ability to share this kind of information with the trainees.
B: If you wish to find out about an ultrasound tech, you can go to ultrasoundtechniciancenter.org.
A: Thanks, Julie. I’ll examine that site out later on.
B: No issue. See you quickly!
