A: How’s your application to the local hospital going, Lia?
B: It’s going a little slow. It’s been a three weeks and I haven’t received a reply. I’ve been contacting other hospitals in nearby cities and still no deal.
A: What do you know about international ultrasound jobs?
B: I was considering it before I applied to the local hospital. Is it a good choice for me?
A: It is, actually. There could possibly be freeze hiring right now because of the influx of sonographers this year. You could have better chances applying sonographer jobs abroad – I know diagnostic medical sonography is a very popular career all over the world.
B: How do you propose I start?
A: The first thing is to build up your resume. Get specialized by attending short courses and seminars. When you’ve finished that, applying to an international job posting will be easy – just remember, it’s a competitive world out there. Make sure your resume is ready to compete with others who are applying for the same position.
B: Those are very good points, Marie. I’ll keep them in mind.
A: If you need to study a little more, try visiting ultrasoundtechniciancenter.org. It’s a great, informative website.
B: Thanks. I will.
