A: Are you and mom okay with my choice to study college in California?
B: Of course we are, dear. However, we would appreciate it if you told us more than just what school you were going to.
A: Yes, of course, dad. Well, as I told you and mom at dinner last night, I’ve chosen the top program at the Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno – which is their certificate program in pediatric cardiac sonography. They also have other programs available, all certificate programs. Students can opt to major in cardiac, general, or vascular sonography.
B: How long does a certificate program take?
A: About 12 to 18 months. It’ll be much quicker for me because I already have some class credits from the local college when I studied there for two semesters last year. The course is usually targeted towards students who have already graduated from an allied medical course, or have credits for allied health classes.
B: That’s good. You can take clinical training much faster because of that as well.
A: Have you been doing research, dad?
