Focal Hepatic Hotspot [Hot Quadrate lobe sign]

More about focal hepatic hot spot indication:
– Also referred to as Focal hepatic location sign due to its look on technetium 99 m sulfur colloid scans.
– SVC blockage – if partial – drain by collateral vessels – internal thoracic, superficial thoraco-abdominal veins and paraumbilical veins – left portal vein.
– This region is usually drained pipes by the exceptional vein of Sappey.
– Only seen on ARTERIAL phase.
– Medical significance:
– Long standing SVC obstruction.
– Pseudolesion.
– Differentials: Focal nodular hyperplasia, hepatocellular adenoma, HCC, hemangioma.
– Hot Caudate lobe indication is seen in Budd Chiari syndrome
