Dr. Jennifer Bloodgood is the new Research Veterinarian working with Dr. Ruth Carmichael. As a new employee at DISL, Dr. Bloodgood plans to introduce herself and her previous research, and share her current research interests and what she is pursuing at DISL. Her background largely focuses on wildlife health, and she will share both her Ph.D. and veterinary research experience. Her Ph.D. research was an interdisciplinary project employing both natural and social sciences.
Specific topics include using blood biochemistry and metagenomics to elucidate the impacts of diet on rehabilitating green sea turtles and employing human dimensions research to better understand how the public perceives sea turtle rehabilitation. Her veterinary research experiences include collaborations with state wildlife agencies, universities, and the CDC, on projects related to both wildlife and human health. She is excited to be here and welcomes ideas for collaboration!
