Should you go into the ultrasound career field? Will you be able to get a job after graduation? | Sonography FAQ

What’s up you guys and welcome back to the channel! I truly appreciate you being here, especially if it’s your first time! My name is Geselle and I’m a sonographer who works in a hospital with experience in outpatient clinics and doctors’ offices. I aim to spread PAWSitivity and ultrasound awareness on my channel. If that’s something you’re interested in, I hope you’ll stay tuned for the entire video!

Many of you have asked me these simple yet complex questions: Should I apply to an ultrasound program even though it’s competitive? Will I even be able to get a job right after I graduate? Is it worth it going to an accredited school versus a non-accredited school? I wanted to hop on and let you guys know my opinion of the ultrasound programs in general, the career itself, and road to becoming a sonographer. There are a few questions you need to answer yourself first to even figure out where to begin. In this video, I talk about why the field is so competitive, what you should do if you want to get going and find a school, and what the sonography market will look like in the future. Is it possible to land a job right after graduation? Are you someone who fits the criteria of starting a sonography journey? Watch the video to the end find out!

Today’s advice: Remember that, many people enjoy the ultrasound field. There are plenty of places to work, lots of job opportunities. But there are also places where techs are not leaving, not retiring, and not moving anytime soon. In my opinion, you should work anywhere you can get after graduation. Work those call shifts, take that per diem or part time shift. You will have to start at the bottom to get to the top. You do not want to wait a long time before working because then you may lose all of your scanning skills. Apply wherever you can and get as much experience as you can! The more you scan, the better you get.

If you happen to enjoy this video, I’d appreciate it if you liked it and subscribe to the channel for more fun adventures! I would love to have you join the SonoGes family. We are on the road to 1,000 subscribers, and every single one of you means so much to me! As always, take care, be safe, stay PAWSitive, be KIND, and we’ll see you in the next one! XOXO, Ges.
