A: What did you think about today’s lecture?
B: I thought it was pretty informative. I never knew there were different kinds of medical technician jobs out there. I always thought there was just one kind of medical technician – the ones who take your blood.
A: I used to think the same, until my sister started looking for colleges and decided to study sonography. It was only then that I learned that sonographers are also medical technicians.
B: I found one topic from the lecture very interesting – x ray technician vs. sonographer? Why is that a popular thing to discuss?
A: According to my research, sonography is constantly touted as safe – which can’t be said the same for x-rays. Sonography uses high frequency but non-damaging sound waves to create the images while x-rays involve radiation which is dangerous for people with compromised immune systems or are pregnant.
