The Ultrasound Technologist, under general guidance of a Radiologist, carries out ultrasound treatments on ambulatory and health center patients as asked for by a doctor or other licensed supplier for the medical diagnosis of illness and injury in accordance with recognized protocols.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Performs high quality ultrasound procedures, according to exam protocol, in a prompt way. Maintains production and quality of imaging treatments by following recognized requirements and procedures.
Makes use of AIDET when communicating with patients to: identify patient service requirements, make sure proper test is performed on the correct client, and establish relationship with clients and others.
Instructs and interacts with clients and their household regarding the test to be carried out and examines patient’s capability to tolerate examination.
Prepares patient and area for treatment by positioning patient, changing immobilization devices, moving devices into specified position and changing devices controls to set exposure elements.
Protects clients and staff members by sticking to safety requirements, infection-control, drug and radiation policies, protocols and methods.
Utilizes appropriate sterilized methods when establishing and performing invasive multimodality treatments and maintains hand hygiene requirements.
Keeps equipment and work area to satisfy quality and cleanliness standards.
Works with engineers and physicists to make sure optimum functional abilities of equipment.
Reports problems to management or appropriate department. Assists in preserving supplies stock.
Ensures individuals are safe to get in the department by screening them according to authorized policies and procedures.
Obtains, verifies and maintains all relevant documents such as requisition/chart, client history, pregnancy status and protecting precautions taken, consent kinds, policies and treatments, etc.
Keeps medical imaging records in appropriate system and according to department policies and standards for analysis in a timely way.

CERTIFICATIONS
EDUCATION – Grad of an Accredited Program
EXPERIENCE – Less than 1 Year of Experience
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION –
Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS is required.
ARRT-BS Breast Sonography (ARRT-BS), ARRT-S Sonography (ARRT-S), Musculoskeletal Sonography (MSK), Reg Diag Medication Sono-Abdomen (AB) (RDMS-AB), Reg Diag Medication Sono-Breast (BR) (RDMS-BR), Reg Diag Med Sono-OB/GYN (OB) (RDMS-OB), Registered Vascular Tech (RVT): Must be certified in among following:
Licensed by the ARDMS-American Pc Registry of Diagn Medical Sonographers (OB/GYN) or (AB) or (BR) or (MSK),
OR
Licensed by the ARRT-American Reg of Radiologic Tech ARRT (S) or (BS) or need to have an RVT certificate. Licensed by the American Computer Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in Vascular Technology (RVT) within one (1) year of position efficient date required for workers in departments that perform vascular ultrasound examinations.
